(U3A) | We are an organisation that supports learning, leisure and social interaction for people in their "third age" - the time after the first age of childhood dependence, and the second age of employment and parental responsibility. Anybody from any walk of life who is over 50 and not in full time employment is welcome to join - no qualifications are needed, and none are awarded, as we are not an academic institution. Our emphasis is on learning for pleasure. We are a "self help" organisation in that all activities are carried out by volunteer members, using the experience of their careers or life in general. We currently have over 450 members who take part in a wide range of activities, from Art to Wine Appreciation. These mainly take place in interest groups varying in size from about 6 to 20 members. In addition there is a program of monthly meetings and occasional seminars covering topics of general interest. You can find out more by visiting our website. | |
